Thursday Night, a storyteller from the Arlington Public Library came and took over the library! The stories were awesome and our students were enthralled. Santa and one of his elves also visited to pose for pictures in front of the tree. We ended the night with stellar performances from Crouch and Anderson strings students under the direction of Mr. Reed and the Anderson Choir under the direction of Mrs. Pumplun! Thanks to all the staff and friends who came out and helped. Cookies and hot chocolate ended our fabulous night! The first set of photos are a gallery of the entire night. The second set of photos are all with Santa. Enjoy! Thursday night we celebrated the beginning of December with our first Makerspace night! We invited teachers and parents to come check out what students have been doing in MAKERSPACE so far this year and boy, did we have a blast!! Thanks for attending! Keep checking for more fun library events....including Hour of Code this week and Arlington Public Library story time & pictures with Santa coming Thursday, December 17th at 6:00-6:45!

Happy Saturday! What a wonderful FALL day in Texas. I just wanted to recap the AWESOME things happening in the Anderson Library!
Our short week started on Tuesday after a fun Labor Day Monday off. We hit the ground running with make up classes and our full Tuesday schedule of classes! 4th grade experienced an awesome personal narrative mentor text this week, reading Nubs: the true story of a mutt, a Marine, and a miracle. There is already a reserve list of students wanting to enjoy it again! Come by the library to add your name to the list. 6th grade worked with multiple meaning words and both 5th and 6th grades found out more details about our new Library Leader program and got their schedules for assisting in the library and Maker Space. With our lunch meetings next week, we will start the program with a BANG! Speaking of Maker Space, we added our EggBot, K'Nex, and finalized the puzzle station. Several students stopped by this week to create with legos, LittleBits, and more. Look for the button maker and Sphero to be out next week, as our Maker Space continues before and after school (with permission) and throughout the day with a pass from a teacher. Kindergarten students read Alphabet Mystery and practiced writing their letters using the interactive white board and 3rd graders explored our newest book additions, ABDO nonfiction and biographies, with companion ebooks for reading on the iPads or phones! More details to come soon. Finally, our catalog computers are fully up and running ready to help you find EXACTLY what you are looking for! We're still working on the Chromebooks, but they should be accessible soon. Look for a second check-in/check-out station opening early next week. Done with Day 2 of student checkouts and we are going strong in the library! Our students are reading tons! Can't wait to meet everyone else this week!
Huge thanks goes out to Julie Crisafulli, my sister, who helped setup and test out our new MakerBot 3D printer yesterday. Come by to check out the fun gator that we printed! Can't wait for students to design things to print in 3D! |
